Essaouira City, Morocco

ESSAOUIRA

Its medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the islet of Mogador, its port dating from the 18th century, and its beaches, allowing the practice of water sports, make the province a quality tourist destination.

Want to discover Essaouira? There are a thousand and one ways to do so. The city of Essaouira has a strong tourist potential. Its natural, historical, and cultural assets, making it a great tourist destination.

Located on the Atlantic coast, Essaouira is a port city and commune of Morocco on the Atlantic coast with about 78,000 inhabitants. The city is 178km north of Agadir, 174km west of Marrakech, and 406km south of Casablanca.

If you ask yourself what to do in Essaouira, a charming port and lively seaside resort overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. It is a veritable maze of streets with old-style yet modern architecture and with beautiful hotels set in traditional Moroccan Riads in the old town. There are also modern hotels along the beach.

The medina of Essaouira, formerly known as Mogador, is an exceptional example of a mid-18th century fortified city surrounded by a Vauban-style wall. Its Kasbah too is a marvel not to be missed.

The corniche of Essaouira is of exquisite beauty, opposite the island and down from the small port. A few kilometers south, on the road to Agadir, islets, and Riads can be found, as well as a unique beach because still unspoiled, the beach of Sidi Kaouki, located about 25 km from the city.

All around there are many plantations of argan trees. This is an opportunity for tourists to see and appreciate argan oil, unique in this region.
